JOURNEY
How I Started
I started my life with dogs at the age of 12 when I got my first dog. I took care of him by walking, feeding, and brushing him. As an adult, I volunteered at Animals in Distress. When my dog passed away, a few weeks later I received a call from a charity trying to rehome a dog. We rehomed the dog and then began volunteering at Doven Dog Behaviour Rehab & Rehome.
My husband and I took the dogs out to the village to socialize them. We took them to the pub, the shop, and walked around with people. We did this for over a year before we fostered two different dogs. One was blind, whom we taught to walk off-lead on the beach, and we eventually found him a home. We also fostered a Labrador Cross with behavioral issues. We gained his trust and found him a home with a lovely couple who understood him and whom he loved.
I then had my own two dogs, which reduced the time I had for walking rescues, though I kept in touch with the organizations. Eventually, I decided to start my own dog walking and sitting business. When I was made redundant, it enabled me to buy a van and start up my business
